Like a western version of Velázquez’s “Las Meninas”, you mean? That would have been an interesting metatextual exercise. Is she painting or is it the cover artist painting her painting? Is her work hers in the end? What does she think about the whole canvas conundrum? What if the cover, herself included, were of average quality but her painting were superb? Would that create some kind of artistic paradox? Would our heads implode trying to process that? All these questions aside, she paints a fine painting, you have to give her that. Colors are accurate and general anatomy and composition seems alright to me.
I wish she had included herself painting in her painting.

Second September Number? What’s that mean?
Ranch Romances was published twice monthly. This was the September 16th issue.
The “number” still seems a little redundant. I’m probably overthinking things.
This is John Drew.
Right, John Drew’s art.
