I can’t believe I found this and am seeing this again after all these years! I sure never expected to. I very well remember seeing this magazine on the rack in the drugstore in Bigfork, Minnesota in what must’ve been 1963 or ’64, when I was 8 or 9 years old. I found it so exceedingly disturbing at the time that I felt I’d never be quite the same again and wished I could un-see it. The lurid tawdriness was just too much for my child’s innocent sensibilities and yet, I was weirdly conflicted and drawn to it. When I next returned to that drugstore that summer I was half-afraid and half-hoping it would still be there, but someone had bought it – much to my simultaneous relief and disappointment. The allure of the taboo can be a very confusing thing for a child.
This looks to be a “Nazi torture” cover with some minor editing to change uniforms.
