… “Kiss me,” she said. “Touch me. Do ——– to me. Go ahead. Please, please…” Her voice trailed off into a low moan…

Do note that the weird blue scribble in the tagline is part of the printing and appears on all the copies of this printing. I assume a word was scratched out just before the book went to print.

  1. Hard to imagine what word would have caused this censorship. If “Do” and “to” weren’t there, it could be just “[4-letter word] me” which would make a little more sense.
    “Do rape to me?”
    “Do abuse to me?”
    “Do sex to me?”
The obvious would be “Do it to me,” but that wouldn’t require censorship. I guess we’ll never know.

  2. Upon further examination, I’d guess that the black decorations across the top of the screen (partially obscuring the woman’s breasts) were also added by the publisher. Although the screen itself is so transparent that it seems pointless in any case.

It’s enough to make Sergio Leone quit his painting job and turn to filmmaking.
