Tarzan Of The Apes Challenges The Savage Wilderness
A different story from the one in this issue of Startling Stories.
I included an interior illustration from this book, as well as the cover art of the Blue Book publication of this story, both by J. Allen St. John.
Also, Pickup Girls of St. Joe
Edit: Added the original painting by Mort Kunstler. However, notice that he re-did the bottom-right corner, replacing the fallen native man with a blonde woman. This modified image was used as the cover of the April 1971 issue of Male magazine.

“In 1935, Walter Baumhofer did these three covers for ADVENTURE magazine. We aren’t aware of any particular reason why these paintings were done, such as for a series running in the magazine. Baumhofer and the editor were just monkeying around and came up with the idea and ran with it through the year. They are just a delightful trio of paintings and a excellent example of why Baumhofer is considered one of the greatest pulp artists ever.”
