  2. I am amazed how long this was the “suite of choice” for action and sci-fi writers. My dad’s Major Matt Mason action toy had a similar suite and that was from the 1960s.

    1. Form follows function – a cantilevered hard pressure suit will look much the same regardless of whether it’s holding pressure out or in.

      The same is true for the hands – making usable gloves was such a daunting challenge that designers often bypassed it in favor of pliers-style grippers.
