This is weird. Your cover shows Parkhurst’s signature close to the right ring finger of the vampire(?) but the same cover is shown without the signature on P. 30 of David Saunders’ article in Illustration Issue No. 29 and is credited to H.J. Ward. How can this be? I know that it is possible to erase signatures on art works. Could an unscrupulous dealer have erased “Parkhurst” to pass it off as a more valuable Ward? But then Ward’s signature would be easy to forge and it wasn’t. Do you know the story on the Illustration photo?
