  1. In 1938, Anthony Scott was an early pseudonym for Davis Dresser. This book had a main character very similar to (the future) Mike Shayne, a detective too, cognac drinker, but who killed and got away with it.
    In 1939, Dresser created “Brett Halliday” to write the first Mike Shayne novel, “Dividend On Death.”
