Turkey, With Very Little Dressing

I don’t mean to criticize the joke writers of 100 years ago, but this should really be titled “Bird, With Very Little Dressing” or perhaps “A Lightly Dressed Bird“. Putting the word ‘turkey’ in there just ruins the double entendre.

  1. We don’t call girls “birds” in the US. Maybe the joke is that she’s sneaking downstairs early to satisfy her Thanksgiving leftovers craving in her nightie–thus she’s having “turkey, with very little dressing.” Your ideas are better, though. Too bad that you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK.
