Interestingly, this were the original “production still” for the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. Walt liked them but his brother thought them a little too racy.
Three of my favourite pirates: John Rackham aka Calico Jack, because of the calico trousers he wore, Ann Bonny, his lover, and Mary Read, member of his crew and also a lover (those pirates didn’t do things by halves) – two fierce redheads who are NOT AT ALL portrayed well here. However I forgive Victor Olson just for putting any form of them on a cover – even if they do look like French washerwomen having an argument about dirty undies.
